Tobie HallZionsville, Indiana, USA
Pilates Instructor and Owner of
The Pilates Wellness Studio.
What originally motivated you to try Pilates?I was motivated to try Pilates one morning while sitting on the couch drinking coffee and reading the paper. I always say it was like the holy spirit spoke and I heard it. I jumped up and ran to the computer, googled Pilates and went that morning. By my second class that week I was researching where to get trained.
The last thing you bought and loved? The last thing I bought was a pair of earrings that are handmade of gold with a little diamond in the center. They are shaped like a flower and dangle. I wear them all the time and feel young and happy in them.
Your favorite Pilates exercise? My favorite exercise is piking on the chair. It requires strength and grace. Awesome move.
Your favorite website (other than Pilates Anytime)? My other favorite website is
BalancedBody. I use a lot of therapeutic techniques since I train private students all day and I gain knowledge and great ideas here.
Your favorite workout clothes?I sell
Prana at my studio so I wear a lot of that. Very comfortable and unique.
The last song you downloaded? The last song I downloaded was Erykah Badu's remake of "Killing Me Softly." I use this in yoga class, to run to, to motivate me....I love that song.
Do you practice a particular style of Pilates? My style is probably more contemporary. I teach yoga and do massage therapy so I know the body fairly well. I love the human body!
How do you use Pilates Anytime?I use Pilates Anytime a couple of times a week and refer it to all my staff and friends. If you pick up just one tip in an hour video then you have learned something to take with you. I feel like I know Kristi and all the instructors and yet I have never met any of them.
The living person you most admire?I most admire my daughter Georgia. She has cystic fibrosis, diabetes and kidney damage from all the drugs she takes. No one has made me laugh more and love life more than her. She has taught me more lessons on life than I could ever imagine.
What do you appreciate most about your body?My back is my best feature. It is very strong...it carries the weight of the world on it but stays flexible at the same time.
An indulgence you would never forgo?I can't live without my weekly yoga class and monthly massage. If I had more time, I would do them both more often.
The book on your bedside table?I read voraciously. Next to my bed I have yoga books, novels, spiritual books, magazines... Life is just too short!
What was your most memorable journey? My most memorable journey is training in Pilates and opening my own
studio before I even graduated. I have been in business 3 years so far. I have learned so much about people, business and myself. It is incredible to go to work each day loving your life!
