On December 6, 2011 Pilates Elder Ron Fletcher passed away at the age of 90. Ron continues to influence the Pilates community through the legacy he leaves behind.
Kyria Sabin, director of Fletcher Pilates and Ron's protoge was kind enough to share this touching tribute from Ben Vereen so we could share it with you.
Ben Vereen was a regular at Ron Fletcher's Beverly Hills studio in the 1970's and was one of Ron's favorite students. They originally met through Dr. Rachael Yocom, former head of the High School of Performing Arts in New York and Ron featured Ben in his book, Every Body is Beautiful. This heartfelt tribute beautifully captures Ron's gifts to the Pilates world - and to the world of movement in general.
Kyria sent us this video along with these words about Mr.Vereen:
"I've had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Ben over the years, through his philanthropic work on behalf of young performers at the University of Arizona College of Fine Arts. He's one of the most dynamic, inspiring and gifted individuals I've ever known, and a true believer in the power of the Pilates method."
Thank you Kyria! We look forward to your trip to Pilates Anytime in August.
