The Pilates EdgeWhat originally motivated you to try Pilates?I was working at a YMCA in Colorado Springs and they received a grant to create a Pilates program. I was thrown in and very overwhelmed at first but determined to succeed and excited to learn. Prior to this I was a certified yoga teacher and personal trainer so I was already living an active lifestyle and Pilates fit right in.
In one word, describe your first Pilates experience?Hmm… very humbling!!! I must admit in the beginning I didn’t quite “get it” very well. Today I love when I “get it” and love sharing my knowledge with instructors in my studio and my clients.
The last thing you bought and loved?My iPad!!! It helps me with my Pilates practice because of the amazing apps like
Muscle Pro and
Visible Body. I highly recommend these to anyone interested in learning anatomy.
Your favorite Pilates exercise?I am in love with short spine. The incredible way it makes you feel as well as finding all the nuances of the exercise is amazing to me.
Your favorite workout clothes?LululemonAn indulgence you would never forgo?My morning coffee!!!
The book on your bedside table?Functional Movement Systems by Gray Cook
Do you practice a particular style of Pilates?I was first trained through Stott but I love getting other instructors' view points.
How did you hear about Pilates Anytime?I noticed an ad in Pilates Style and signed up for the free fifteen day trial and quickly became hooked.
How do you use Pilates Anytime?To improve my knowledge and develop a better understanding of exercises, it also helps me improve my cuing and gives me new creative ideas. I am so grateful for Pilates Anytime and the immense resources and quality of teaching your website features.
Do you have a motto?“I will never arrive” I think a teacher should be a lifelong student increasing their knowledge and improving their teaching skills.
What do you appreciate most about your body?That my body allows to me to move in incredible ways and how strong and fit I am as I near 50. I am in better shape, healthier, and stronger than I ever was in my 20’s and 30’s.
