Remembering Julian Littleford

Julian Littleford was a great friend to Pilates Anytime. He was not only an early adopter to participating on Pilates Anytime, he also introduced us to many of the instructors you love to take class from here on PA.

Though Julian’s battle with cancer was known, it was still a shock and great loss to learn of his passing on August 31, 2013. We miss him greatly and will forever be grateful for his generous input here on Pilates Anytime, as well as to the Pilates community at large.

It was a special treat when three of Julian’s “Angels” came to Pilates Anytime late last year. We took the opportunity to interview two of them, in hopes of learning more about this amazing man that so many called their teacher.

In this touching discussion, Melissa Connolly and Jessie Chatigny share how they were graciously accepted into Julian's studio and into his life. With light hearts they remind each other of their favorite “Julian-isms” and their favorite moments in the studio. They also share some of the ways Julian supported them outside the studio.

Julian Littleford was a great man; an accomplished dancer, an influential Pilates teacher, a wonderful friend and by all accounts, a most loving family man. Julian lived well. Most who knew him aspire to do the same ... moment by moment, day by day.

Julian was all that and more. He just had this real spark to him. Like a bright star and you just wanted to bask in that light with him. He may be gone but he is still burning bright.

Dear Kristi and Pilates Community-
It warms me to see how loving and true people have been to Julian during his life and now. I had not heard Julian's voice for a year. It was a deliberate choice for me, as it was so painful for me to hear him and not see him. Recently, I started watching some footage we have of him and yes, it is painful , but I smile too. I am starting to watch the videos from his times with you at PA. He thought highly of you and really did want you to take off big. He is happy for you, as I am. Thanks to the community who he held so close to his heart. I'll spend a little time listening to him each day now. Be well everyone. Cherish the moments.
Dear Carol,
Thank you for expressing your thoughts here. I think of you and the rest of your family so often. It is always with a warm heart and the hope that you are well. Julian remains a very strong presence for us here on PA. I expect it to stay that way going forward too. With gratitude. Kristi
