Hi everybody, I am home recovering from my knee surgery. I appreciate all the good thoughts and well wishes that were posted for me on fb, its much appreciated! Update: I ended up with 2 tears of the meniscus one lateral and one medial.. he also said I had a tremendous amt of arthritis under the knee cap. that was upsetting to hear. He trimmed the tears and cleaned up arthritis best he could. I am now going on 4 days post-op and beginning to rehab my knee at home with the few exercises they gave me to do. Flex, & point toes, ankle rolls and straight leg lifts.. the bad thing is my quads are so weak I cant even lift them a fraction! I am looking for suggestions from anybody that can suggest any other exercises they think can help. I thought of trying the flex band for now to help out with the leg raises until I gain strength. Sorry for the long post. I am missing my Pilates so bad and a bit stir crazy. Thanx guys!!
Georgia Burns has a 20 minute class number 732 that has some work with sliding your legs (not picking them up) at the beginning. I have no experience with knee rehab -but this is a nice gentle class -it might be worth a look
TY Joy for responding.. I think thats a great suggestion and I will try that one. I pulled my roller out and tried to loosen hamstrings this morning,.. I have sat so much. That felt great! I am open to suggestions! Cant straighten that leg out just yet or do any weight bearing on it.. but i am a work in progress..
Hi Jamie Wishing you well with your recovery. I'm going to email you later, a friend of mine had very similar surgery to you and has made a complete recovery through Pilates based rehab.
Hi Elizabeth, I have a client who has broken her knee and is wanting to continue with Pilates could you possibly forward the email to myself. I would be extremely grateful. Jamie I hope you have healed successfully and if you had any suggestions for modifications I could get my client doing while she also cant bear any weight or bend her leg that would be fantastic? Thanks Lauren.
