Torn hip labrum practice guidelines?

Was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on a safe pilates practice for a client recently diagnosed with a fairly significant torn labrum in her hip.
Hi Mary, I had a significant tear in my right hip and had it repaired in June, 2012. Prior to my surgery and rehab I found keeping the lever short was helpful. Try to strengthen the surround muscles to provide stability. Hope that helps!
Thanks Donna!
I have an impingement and labrum issue, and agree that short levers are best, as well as strengthening adductors and glute med. Leg circles even with bent knee can be painful, as the femur head "scours" the labrum.
Hi, is there any specific exercises that you found helpful? I have a client with a labrum tear, her specialist's advice was that they wait 6 weeks see if she is pain free and if not consider surgery. Obviously she wants to avoid surgery so we are looking for exercises that will help with joint stability but won't aggravate the injury. I have been doing some research but would really appreciate any books, websites or information that you can offer.

I found these exercise interesting:

I found this book to be helpful: Pilates for Hip and Knee Syndromes and Arthroplasties by Beth Kaplanek . Available on Amazon.
