I have a client with this condition, and she has improved a lot and the exercises have been helping but if anyone has any tips or advice please share.:) Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I have spondylolisthesis and I stumbled upon pilates only to discover that it was extremely self-correcting for the condition. I've been hooked for the last 6 years and am now starting to dabble in teaching it. The imprinting of the spine is most helpful for this condition. I try to imprint, even when neutral spine is recommended. Arching of the back is a bad thing for spondy so many exercises performed while laying on the belly and lifting upper body and/or legs need to be modified. In this position I always concentrate on drawing rib cage in and down and extending extremities, rather than lifting arms and/or legs which results in back arching. Rolls up and roll downs performed properly are therapeutic. Roll overs can be bad, especially if legs extend all the way back so that feet are touching the floor.
Hi Debbie, could you write any of your modifications for exercises while laying on the belly and lifting upper body and/or legs. I have a client with this condition and we do many exercises but I don't those laying on the floor on a belly. I will appreciate any ideas.
