I'm going to begin working with a lovely young woman who is currently 270 pounds and wants to lose weight. I'm thinking to start with basic mat exercises. Any suggestions on reformer exercises for her that will not discourage her? I've not worked with anyone this size before and want her to stay motivated. She has no health issues at this time other than she says her knees are starting to hurt.
Beginner mat work and beginner reformer system would be good. Rolling may be difficult due her size and also uncomfortable so I would avoid rolling like a ball at the beginner. Stomach Massage could also be difficult due to her size and also knee issues. Leg springs would be good to work on as an individual need. Pumping on the chair should also probably be avoided as it may be uncomfortable.
