Diastasis Recti-specific workouts

Hi there, as a new mom trying to recover from a DR, it would be great to have some videos that are 100% DR safe. This is such a common problem for so many new moms, and there are a lot of ladies that are not educated on which movements are ok and which are not. I realize that there are a lot of videos that have *some* movements safe for DR in their content, but so many ladies don't know which exercises to sit out on, or how to modify for DR, so I think it would be great to have some videos that the DR mamas can follow without worry of making their DR worse.
Rebecca that is a great idea... I wish I would have thought of it before hand. It will be tough to go back view the classes with that filter in mind, but I will ask some of the instructors to consider what they have taught previously and let us know whether it would suit the needs of someone recovering from DR. Thank you.
Hi Rebecca - Great idea! It would be so nice for one of us pre and post-natal instructors on PA to do a nice tutorial on what exactly safe DR exercises mean, as this is a very complex issue and there is not a one-size fits all set of exercises for every woman. You are correct, there are many women that do not know which exercises to do or how to modify exercises or more importantly what it means to listen to their body and perform even "safe" exercises with full integrity, as any exercise done incorrectly can be problematic, so it comes down to the cueing I suppose, and the postnatal woman's ability to move slowly with patience and facilitate the natural healing process with exercises, and not "push" her body to repair itself - it's a very fine line that we as new moms walk when it comes to healing from birth.
.......As you and I have chatted via Skype and email before, please feel free to contact me with specific questions about exercises and modifications, as I am always happy to help in any way that I can In fact, I would love to hear more about your thoughts on the topic. In the meantime, I have heard from many women that have done my post-natal classes and DVD that their DRs have decreased significantly and that they feel strong and connected with their core once again, I hope that you enjoy them as well, and again I am always interested in feedback and thoughts from new mothers and other Pilates professionals alike Take care!!
