Hi Debra H, Thank you for your comment. It is important to work with each body as needed. Nearly all movements can be contraindicated for a specific person. Developing strength, mobility and awareness for all spinal movements (including hyperextension of lumbar spine) in a controlled environment can be very useful for many. While a person with spinal pathology may need to begin slowly and work up to bigger movements, many of my chronic back pain clients have benefited immensely by "leaning into the tightness" of Spinal extensors to encourage that tissue to move in mover ranges.
