Hi Geovanna! Thanks :) Good question: The classical version is with a round back and such a lovely exercise performed this way. However, performing the Elephant with a flat back challenges the back extensors, and in this day and age, society has us rounded forward and after time our spines are kyphotic! (i.e. driving and on a computer). This exercise also assists in lengthening and stretching the hamstrings which effect the back as well. It's just a variation of the original exercise. Thx!
