Pilates is a system of exercise created by Joseph Pilates that is designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance. When movement is connected to the foundational Pilates principles like breath, centering, focus, and flow, you will feel anchored in your practice both physically and mentally. As as result, you will notice the change in your other types of workouts and movements, and in your daily life.
Pilates can be practiced on a Mat using your own body (or small props), or on specialized Pilates Apparatus or Pilates machines (the Pilates Reformer is the most common).
