As Pilates teachers, we know that successful cueing is based on thorough and clear communication that will guide our clients through a meaningful experience, which ultimately leads them to a deeper understanding of the movement and their body. As teachers we talk, a lot, as verbal cueing is vital to our communication with our clients. But, do we truly understand the impact that our word choices do or do not make on our client’s experience with and understanding of the exercises?
In this workshop, BASI Pilates® Instructor, Leah Stewart, will explain why thoughtful, clear and conscious word choice plays a crucial role in the success of a Pilates teacher’s communication with their clients. Through a lecture on verbal communication, a series of word “games” and teaching drills, workshop participants will gain a clear perspective on the power of their words. Upon completion of the workshop, participants have learned helpful teaching techniques that will give them the tools to improve their verbal teaching skills with intelligence, purpose and sensitivity to their client’s needs.
Please join us on December 1, 2012. This two hour lecture will be followed with a Mat class applying the skills discussed in the workshop.
