A meditation for the morning. We begin as always with the breath, breathing in and breathing out. Breathing in a way that's natural to you. But as you add your mindfulness to your breathing, it becomes more luminous. Breathing in, relaxing the body, breathing out, relaxing the mind with each breath, settling yourself in a comfortable position. Hands either in your lap, on your legs, whatever feels right to you.
Beginning this meditation as all meditation with a kind of ritual for yourself, sitting and breathing and becoming present each day. Each 24 hours is a beautiful opportunity to begin a new. So we greet the day with gratitude for this opportunity to live a life full of joy, happiness, and presence. So breathing in, relaxing the body, relaxing the mind. We begin with gratitude. Gratitude for the blessings in my life, gratitude for all that comes before me today without judging it, without calling it good or bad.
Just gratitude for being alive, breathing in and breathing out. And as we begin the day, we open to the light, allow the light to enter in, in through our head, filling our bodies, illuminating us, and lightening us with its lovely, radiant, the radiance that is us. And as you lighten, you find yourself becoming one with all around you. Breathing in and breathing out, opening to the day. And we ask ourselves the question, how do I want to live my life today? How will my life be full and joyful and present?
The easiest way to do this is to pause during the day and to remember the breath. So with each breath you are fully in the present moment. Each breath can bring you joy. Each breath can remind you of the gratitude of being alive, getting to experience all that human beings get to experience without judgment. So we sit in the morning opening to the light, filling ourselves with the healing energy, with the connecting energy, with the idea of no separation and greet the day, knowing that each day we're given an opportunity to try again.
So as you sit for a moment contemplating how do I want to live my life today? What's important to me? You might consider the ideas of love, kindness, compassion, joy, gratitude, forgiveness, connection, being fully present. So as we said, we breathe and open to our divine wisdom, the wisdom that tells us this is the way to go right now. How do I want to live my life today?
How am I going to live my life today? And the beauty of each new day is we get to write something we might've done that we didn't like yesterday. We get to begin again. This is the gift of being present. How am I going to live my life today? How am I going to bring joy and happiness and presence to myself and all those I come in contact with?
You have the wisdom, you know the answer, open to it, opening to the light. So as we close our meditation today, I'd like to leave you with the last four lines of a poem by Mary Oliver. Something that I think about in the morning when I'm setting the path for my day, when it's over, I want to say all my life, I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom taking the world into my arms. Thank you.
