PE classes were always discouraging for me as a child since I was not interested in basketball and relay races. If Pilates had been introduced, I am sure it would have been more enjoyable. Now that I am a teacher I try to teach my students basics with Pilates and Yoga. I find that the children react positive to it. It helps with concentration, flexibility, and balance. It certainly does help the students become more relaxed! They become aware of their breathing techniques. I do not use props since I only do it when I have a few minutes to spare.
