Thank you Amy for such a thoughtful and thorough examination. The over gripping is something we all do and see in our clients. I was envisioning Laurel doing chest expansion with a fascial web that started at the T junction of the pedipole that came through her arms and into her whole body affecting change three dimensionally. I like your idea of bunnies and chicks because they have soft frail bones. Lots to take away from this tutorial.
Great video , great cues, just like you would expect from a TPC teacher! just a quick question please . Is the bean bag exercise eventually also to be performed with thumbs with fingers (no motorcycle grip) more like on the long stretches series on the reformer?
Thank you!!! I'm thinking that putting thumbs with fingers would make it so hard to hold the bar that too much tension would occur. But if the wrists are flexible enough to stay aligned it could be a good version. Let us know (-: Rachel
Rachel, thank you so much for this valuable information- I come back to this video from time to time and whatever issue was going on in my hand or wrist dissipates immediately as I shift my focus to something I hadn't been, and discover where my energy was spilling out. Thank you for sharing your work with us on film
Thank you Rachel! Your lessons are always safe, informative and effective. I really enjoy them. The bean bag exercise is a weight lifting go to that has been practiced for centuries. It’s primarily for the deltoids and avoiding tendon inflammation in athletes, lifters and as you say: all of us. Thanks!
Hrm, I guess what I meant is that time under tension is the focus of the exercise so that the body can adapt to the stress we submit it to by practicing.
As in all Mr. Pilates’ work , time and science prove the intelligence and great effectiveness of his exercises (-: Such a good comment- thank you, Jaime!
