I have a friend in Petaluma, CA who is in qreat pain from 3 bulqinq discs and arthritis in his spine.
his doctors are recommendinq surqery w/ some risk of paralysis. Yikes!
Naturally, I'm recommendinq Pilates ... w/ a combination of myofascial release/aliqnment therapy, perhaps?
Do you know of any skilled practitioners in either field that you would recommend near Petaluma (or even San Francisco) that miqht be able to deal w/ such problems? ... or ANY field for that matter!
This sounds so sad to me. Poor guy! I like your suggestion better than the Surgery route which sounds really risky and scarey. I am sorry I dont know anyone there but you could possibly do an online search and see who you land on. I have a neighbor with buldging discs also and major arthritis.. he refused surgery and still continues to work out. Carefully, but he hired a knowledgable trainer that helps him. Plus he works as a RN Supervisor at a hospital. They allow him to use a scooter at work to get up and down the long hallways when he has to get there in a hurry! Best of wishes to your friend. I hope he can find a way.
Miriam- A silent Pilates and kinesiology treasure happens to live and practice in Tiburon, 30 miles south of Petaluma. Inventor of the Functional Footprints and the BAC discs, Jean Claude has an uncanny sense of things and I would recommend him highly. I do not know his availability, but it is worth a shot. You can find contact information through his website: //www.jeanclaudewest.com/
