I have a fibromyalgia client (with constant pain) who benefits the most by l-e-n-g-t-h-e-n-i-n-g strongly in every single exercise! I often use the image of lifting the vertebrae like you could lift tuna cans one above the other, making space between. Using both abs & deep back muscles. (Shari Berkowitz's tip originally I think.)
She also finds my classical approach to pelvis positioning to be the best from all she has done over the years. She's done both "neutral" and imprinting. Now after our classically biased sessions she's PAINFREE for the rest of the day, wohoo! The pain comes back only during the next night. Maybe that's the position where she is able to lengthen while supine too..?
Haha, how can it be, you're in Finland too! How fun to meet new people from here on a forum on the other side of the world :)
Great to meet you. PA is fantastic. It is like a working encyclopedia. Yes i am big on lengthening. In fact with my client who has the most pain I focus on breathing ,lengthening, and flow. With the pain I think they tend to have shallower breathing hence a knock on effect on their bodies. Thanks .
