Calling all instructors, how do I approach breathing? I am working on prenatal pilates with a midwife. She does not do or teach her clients lateral breathing but belly breathing. How have you all adapted to this? If so how have you managed to retrain your client afterwards? Or am I just being stupid?
I have just filmed three prenatal classes for PA. you will see how I use deep abdominal breathing throughout and cue muscle connection from the sit bones, hips bones and ribcage and not just the rib cage. As you progress during the pregnancy, I change that to only deep abdominal breathing.
Once she is post partumI revert back to the breathing using the bony cues once again. I am also a birth doula and understand the importance of training women to use the deeper breathing to facilitate the birthing process.
Please feel free to contact me if you need more info.
