hip replacement

hi! any suggestions working with hip replacement? one of my clients has a very hard time with rotation and is hard to find stretches that work for her since she can't cross her legs or do stretches on the barrel or reformer due to restriction on her inner thighs. thank you!!
hi mary. post hip replacement the rules are no coming over 90 degree in hip flexion, no rotation of the pelvis (as in a golf swing), and no bringing the leg across the midline (as in mat leg circles). these restrictions are for 3-6 months. I use lying down with the leg in a band to stretch hams and inner thighs. i also stretch hamstrings from standing on the chair. i have been rehabilitating a client since 4 weeks after his surgery and have found that there are tonnes of things you can do. i focus a lot on balance work and standing hip strengthening using a theraband with him, though we also use caddy, chair, tower, and arc.
How about hip replacement modifications after 5-10 years? Are they the same or somewhat relaxed? thanks!

Great suggestions Openspace Pilates! I also use the green SOS strap for additional pnf-type stretching of the hamstrings and calves. I am also a big fan of standing balance work! Get them up, start slow, but get them up on their legs! After 5-10 years...protocols are more relaxed, but each client is unique in the way they healed and recovered from their surgery. Stay client-centered and ask what they'd like more of, what do they feel they need, do they feel confident with their strength, their balance? If they say no, it's go time for you to create a solid program to provide them with new challenges! Good luck!
