os peroneum syndrome and Joe's toe gizmo

In Dec, saw ex for toes on pilatesanytime & YouTube. BB toe gizmo too expensive, so bought 1 by Prag Movement. Don't know how tension compares to 1 by BB, but found it uncomfortable. After 2-3 uses, plantar aspect of base of 5th metatarsal began to hurt when I walked--it felt like a break I'd had before of 5th metatarsal of other foot--& I got referred pain to a spot on the outside of my heel. It didn't occur to me to suspect the toe corrector, but now I wonder if it somehow was connected. Pain worsened even w/NSAIDs, saw orthopedist & got X-ray that showed no break but an os peroneum (little extra bone on 5th metatarsal), & now have suspected (awaiting MRI) os peroneum syndrome (peroneal tendon that stretches across base of 5th metatarsal gets inflamed).
Has anyone had this syndrome or know anything about it? Could I have brought it on by use of the toe corrector? (not trying to make a lawsuit, just to understand)
Thanks,
Cynthia
