I’ve been doing pilates for almost ten years, I’m comfortable at any flow and level. I thought I would be a natural when I decided to take training… I’m horrible I’m unable to remember what to do I lack a positive you go girl cheerleader mentality. I’m not negative and Debbie downer I’m just quiet I workout to workout and feel good not to socialize. I’m not sure I’m getting any good teachings from this program it’s not set up to teach it seems. But my point and hopes are that someone can provide some real World advice not just stay with it or it will take time, I went from confident head to toe while taking classes to an incompetent embarrassment to myself… what do I do? Does anyone have any personal experience with club pilates? Thanks
Hi Nicole K — Natalia from the Pilates Anytime Team here. I am also a certified instructor!
To start — Try to remember your “Why”. It's likely that you found a passion for Pilates and you were excited to share that with others!
When it comes to the class flows, knowing when/how to modify exercises, and teaching to a group, it does take time. You are taking on a new set of skills, so it will take time to master.
I am not the big cheerleader type either when it comes to my teaching style. But I find that when I am conveying technique and seeing my students improve, that’s where the energy starts to kick in!
Not every Pilates instructor is going to be exactly alike. But that’s what makes having a variety of instructors and teaching styles so important! Because someone out there is going to connect with your style and energy, which will end up benefitting them and their practice.
Wishing you the best of luck in your training! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out!
Hey, I can imagine what's going on inside you. Don't let anything take away your personal connection to Pilates. Maybe you encounter yourself in a new context; that's a valuable experience, one that might even be surprising And a Little frightening:) Back then, I did a three-year dance teacher training course. After that, I wanted to do everything but teach dance. A little later, I discovered my love for teaching. The key here was learning new things myself (anatomy, visual images, ways of manual Support ). If you love Pilates and stick with it, people will perceive you as authentic. Everything else will follow. If you'd like, we can also talk about it in person sometime. I hope I was able to help you a little. Best, Kathrina
