Clicking hip

I have noticed for some time now, and I am sure it prob has something to do with old bursitis, But esp when i try to do hip circles a clicking or popping in my hip joint on the left side only.. it hurts too , I have tried rotating my foot but it doesnt help much.. Any ideas??
I have the same thing. I have found that if I keep my circles very small, or supported with a Theraband over the ball of the foot it helps alleviate it somewhat. The best for me is just to do the circles with a bent knee and then the clicking disappears.
Yes Debbie I noticed if I used the Theraband it does alleviate it.. I just trying to figure out the cause. I asked doc and he shrugs and goes prob just bursitis.. and says just stop that particular exercise.. That just makes me nuts! i
To me its nice to try to understand whats going on in my own body. If its misalignment or something more. Thank you so much for responding! Prob just getting rickidy in my old age.. ha.
same thing for me. i found helping to be very concentrate on the hip joint to be 'in place' and ground left side of lowback very carefully on the mat so that the movement is into the joint, and also small range ! ciao!
I am gonna get to the bottom of this thing one way or another. I go for a follow up bone scan this year and am so hoping my pilates practice has cont to make improvements in my bone density! Never give up the battle.. thanks guys you all are so supportive and informative!! For now will shorten range of motion and cont to use straps. Best regards ,, jame
I have this sometimes, particularly in the high leg swings that Neidra does. For me, those same swings loosen up my hip so that it lessens or stops after a few of them. That might help you?
If I could get myself to a Madeline black workshop I might find some answers. My resolution this year is to hit up some workshops!!
Hi Jamie.....I have had the clicking hip for a long time too, left hip more than right, but it seems to be gone for the most part now. I began thinking about where my leg circle should come from and deepened my concentration on feeling the femur in the joint and visualizing the circle happening in the back of my hip...almost the circle on the floor behind my hip.....rather than thinking of the circle in the air/at the foot. I stopped using the theraband as it wasn't helping me strengthen my hip joint. I started very small with my circles, even just did a windshield wiper kind of side to side motion and gradually increased ROM. The musculature inside my hip joint , I found, wasn't strong enough to support the circle of course, so the thought of doing the circle closer to my body, in my body, was what I needed to build the strenght. I don't click anymore and it's quite liberating! Let me know what you find!!
Of course it has to do with hip glide, but getting a dr's opionion might do some good too!! But I agree with you, I wouldn't want to just stop the movement.....that's really not good enough for me!
Hi ladies

I found these articles which may help to understand the cause of the problem:
//www.pilates-back-joint-e xercise.com/hip-popping-on-leg-circ les.html
//orthopedics.about.com/cs /otherhip/a/snappinghip.htm
