Bulging disc and pilates...????

hey. Just found out today that i have a bulging disc. Is it safe to continue on with pilates? Is there any move that would either help, or hurt it? Thanks so much,

There may be some info there Cindy. I know its safe to work with bulding discs but you have to modify and make sure you are with either a PT or Pilates educator/instructor that knows how to modify.. and make sure you have ok from your doctor!!

It has some good info and features fine rehab teachers and PT's like the wonderful Mr. Brent Robinson who do segments on working with back issues. Wish I had the correct link to post here.

I have the okay from my doc...but there is no way for me to take a class, or work with a pilates instructor. just nobody in my area! my PT prefers yoga to pilates, so she is down on it a bit- but pilates feels right for me...and feels good for me...so i stick with it.
Again I am wrong Cindy,,thats Brent Anderson not Robinson..thats what happens when u are planning vacation at same time you are doing other things!! Was planning a trip thru Brett Robinson..sometimes I just have to laugh at myself.. honestly I can walk and chew gum!

I have chronic low back pain and degeneration in lumbar and thoracic discs. So far I know that I have facet syndrome which comes with pain but the word is still out on whether I have a herniated lumber disc. Until this last weekend when I took R2, I thought it was better for me to do flexion since it didn't give me pain in the moment and low back extension feels bad. But I learned that flexion is contraindicated in most disc issues as most discs slip posteriorly. True? And can you see a slppied disc by x-ray? thx
