Spring tension

I'm working on a stott at home reformer and I may be mistaken, but are the spring tensions different than a balanced body reformer? I understand that BB has full, half, and I believe quarter springs, but are the full springs the same as my stott? Maybe I'm just more out of shape than I thought after my third baby, but anything other than footwork, I can't use as much spring as the instructor is asking. Thanks!
Yes the Spring tensions are different Kathyrn. It's hard to say if the full springs are the same as your STOTT reformer given you must account for how new they are, etc.. The best thing to do is listen to whether the spring tension is supposed to be heavy, medium or light for the given exercise. In general, if the instructor is giving foot work it is meant to be medium to heavy for you. The key word is YOU. If two springs is medium to heavy but the instructor said the student was on three red springs, in effect you are doing the same thing. I would not declare your fitness ability as compared to others using our studio equipment. There are simply too many variables. As long as you think you are achieving the goal of the exercise, the actual springs being used truly don't matter. Hope this helps.
