oh how great would it be for those of us with back pain to have workouts focussing mainly on extension! not so much rounding of the spine. i crave that!!!
Thank you Cindy. Agreed. I will teach a class for you next time I film (granted I haven't been filming much). What apparatus do you prefer? Mat? Reformer? ??? Thank you for this suggestion. I hope others see it as an option to share their info on how to offer the body movement in a manner that doesn't hyper focus on the abdominals via flexion. I will do my best to satisfy your craving as well as encourage others to do so as well. Michael King has a Mat class that allows some good Mat work without flexion, I know there are others too, but I'll have to think about them. If you check the "email me when people reply" box, I'll add them as I think of them! Here is the class of Michaels's I am thinking of... Michael's Mat It's a level 1/2, but I remember getting a lot of challenging work out of it when he keeps the upper body down while extending the legs.
THANK YOU Kristi! i will check that one out in the morning. i personally don't have a reformer. just balls of various sizes, a few foam rollers, and a circle. i love props...but they are not necessary. thanks again so much, i appreciate this response!!!
My pleasure! I think you make a terrific point here and one I have thought about a lot. I'll do the best I can and am looking forward to the challenge. In the meantime, if you find classes that suit you for this specific need, please let me know so I can refer to them for others in the future.
Your feedback is much appreciated Cindy. Thank you.
I couldn´t agree more. I would love to see more extension classes, although you do have "back care" sessions and I find them very helpful. I have a herniated disc (just found out, 3 months ago) and can´t do any rounding of the spine
