As an instructor I have found your site very useful up until now! The problem is I teach mixed level classes with people of all posture types, abilities, ages and physical injuries/conditions and as yet I've not found a class on here which reflects this diversity in a group. I'm now starting to feel quite frustrated with my classes because I would like to teach with the flow and rhythm of your classes but so many modifications have to be given to my class members it isn't possible. Please show a class reflecting the real world..!
Hi Dawn, I'm very sorry to hear of your frustration and I feel compelled to tell you that it is not the goal of PA to teach teachers how to teach. For that purpose we bring in the likes of Madeline Black, Brent Anderson and other leaders in the Pilates industry to offer workshops geared towards instructors. We recognize that teachers from around the world are learning from the quality teachers we invite to Pilates Anytime, but for us that is a wonderful by product of sharing high quality pilates. Our goal with the general membership is to offer good Pilates at a good price. We are aware of how eager folks are to have more training online so we are brainstorming ideas that may end up suiting your needs better. For now, however, if you are looking for ways to modify for your own students, I highly recommend that you do so with a qualified training program rather than through our videos.
You may find our Tutorials helpful. The students in class aren't always of a diverse group experientially speaking, but concepts are addressed that you may like. We don't stage who comes to class. The environment we have (with camera's etc..) is not always conducive to new people, or people concerned about how they will look to others while they learn. On the other hand, it is often the case that we have the people you'd want to see in the class, but they won't be on camera. Tutorials
thank you for your reply and suggestions Kristi. I do of course take part in training courses and I don't expect PA to teach me to teach as I have a recognised qualification already! What I find invaluable is the opportunity to observe a class, without teaching it, and your videos have been most useful. I take your point about new people being camera shy, what a pity! I shall check out the tutorials, thanks !
Thanks for your understanding dawn. There is some good news. Alan Herdman is here and is teaching a workshop tomorrow that will be offering all kinds of modifications and preparatory exercises. It will be some time before we can put it up, but I wanted you to know that its in the works.
Would there be any interest in providing a 60 min stretch class? Also, a suggestion: A partnership with a major Pilates equipment business to offer specials on large equipment to Pilates anytime members.
Bonnie~ We do have some 60 minute stretch classes. You can find these by selecting "Stretching" in the drop down menu titled Specialty under Classes. To see the search results, click here and it will take you to classes by specialty "stretching." I also find that Anthony Lett's classes are great for stretching.
Thanks , Kristi. Perhaps with all the Pilates teachers and practitioners who are with Pilatesanytime will prove a good market for manufacturers. I am looking for a good reformer at a reasonable price. I live in Pa. A used one would be welcome.
