I use Pilates AnyTime almost exclusively when I travel. I attend regular sessions at a studio when I am at home. I have a couple suggestions that may help me and other users as well. 1. I would like to see more Mat classes with just the instructor - NO class. A class distracts some teachers because they feel they have to give individual cues. Plus, the camera can be zoomed in on the teacher, so that it is easier to see the body movement and alignment of the instructor. 2. No props - I only have space for a mat. I love props, but I can't take all of them with me on the road. I had to skip 2 classes this morning because the class was using props. Usually, it is apparent by the title or the photo, but not always. 3. Lighting - forget the night time shots, unless it is a restorative class. Please video in the morning or twilight for best lighting.
Do others agree? Any other ideas. Love the website and the awesome instructors!!!
I agree Kenny about the lighting. And I believe that wearing colors (instead of black) makes it easier to see the instructor (lower and mid-body, especially). Thank you.
Kenny and Catherine thank you for sharing your ideas. Some we have thought of, some are mistakes on our part, and some are just darn good ideas!
We have done our best to not shoot at night since the last time change. Sometimes we run late or it is our only chance to get the instructor thus we suffer the black window.
We have asked the instructors to wear color on the lower half of their body but it has proved to be challenging to get them (us) to accomodate. Most of us don't have bright/light tights, nor do we feel particularly comfortable wearing bright tights on camera (for the reason you think) so this has been a bit of a struggle to convert us... and point taken! Continued....
When we forget to list a prop, it is a mistake. Please let us know if this happens so we can correct it. Sorry for the inconvenience Kenny.
As for having classes with just the instructor well that's great! It's easy to do and far less complicated than having a live class in the room. We do it on occasion as you know, but we'll keep it in mind that there is support for more classes featured this way.
Thanks for taking time to write, Kristi. I think your biz concept is amazing, and you all do a fantastic job. I am a huge fan and recommend PA to my friends. Don’t change anything for me…. Thank you for making it fun and challenging to work out at home.
Catherine
PS: I know I’m really into a class when I find myself talking back to the teacher, i.e., yeah, that IS challenging, etc. : ) I giggle to myself when I realize I’ve done it again!
Too Late Catherine! I just bought a pair of Turquoise pants online! For what it's worth I talk back to the teachers when I take class at home too! I have conversations with Elizabeth Larkam! I'm thrilled to know that you consider yourself a fan of PA and that you recommend the site to your friends. Thank you!
I have some purple leggings that I'll try wearing! I'm game....as long as other teachers will too! I actually have a few pair of colored leggings (velvet even!!) so what the heck, it's time to give it a try eh?!!
