What if a client cannot sit in the Z sit?  Is it okay to have them just sit with the legs hanging off the side of the reformer?

Kathy H great question. Yes you can absolutely have them cross their legs. I would invite them to cross their unfavored leg on the second side, to be sure they balance the rotation that crossing causes in the pelvis. Hope that helps.
