Are there any classes geared for the adolescent attention span? My teen is a muscle-bound football player with no flexibility and they are not addressing this in practice or P.E. He is willing to work through Pilates, but I wonder if there are any classes directed toward the young guys?
Hi Kathleen, As of now we do not have any classes specifically scheduled for young guys. We'll have a Pilates for kids workshop to offer you soon, but so far we don't know of anyone we work with specializing in this arena. Let's us know if you find a good resource!
Well we just bit the bullet this morning & started him on Niedra's basic #2. We didn't lose him too badly & he seemed to be able to work through it. We are limited to mat only - we live in the back of beyond & don't have access to a studio with equipment. Since he's 16 & still does what he's told to a certain extent, he will continue with us encouraging & Niedra teaching Niedra is coming here in Nov. to do a teacher cert training so we will try to have him "readied up" for her!
Hi Kathleen, so exciting to read your post and hear about your son. Mat is excellent for teens and there are many things that can be done to keep him invovled. Love that I am going to be meeting either you and or your son. Are you taking the mat training? we can go over variations when I meety you that will keep him both challenged and interested and progressing. Maybe YOU can start a beginner mat class for muscle bound teens and become the hit of your community! Believe it or not - that is how great teachers are " made", by necessity.
