I highly recommend Krist and Christi and Jason that you all read Gary's Calderones book on Pilates -he defines the physical, mental, and metaphysical principles that Pilates addresses. The ability to create awareness of self (breath) , to be present in the moment (concentration), to feel empowered to create conscious change (control), to regain internal and external balance (centering), to find the internal connections between all things (precision) and to finally find the bigger perspective of relationship with self and others and of spirit (flow).Calderon's book is a must read. Thank you Kristi for your honesty and transparency. It Is refreshing and inspiring and I think many teachers can relate to this topic on a personal leve because we all all people too experiencing life and trauma while on a path to serving others !
I personally am excited to share my research with Lolita in May and I would be thrilled to share more of these thoughts if you have interest. All in all, sending love and healing intentions to you. You are a warrior!
Christine , thank you!!!! I have had the opportunity to meet Gary Calderones, as he's a friend of Brent's and I have the book as well. At the Polestar Center in Miami we work together as a team in just the way you are describing, which is a very eastern approach and the reason I stuck with Polestar coming from years of the Swami Rama lineage ... This all goes way beyond exercise and is a philosophy for living and communicating with all beings. I appreciate your work and sharing!!! Blessings
Thank you Christine! I have read the book and even interviewed Gary right here on PA about it. I love this interview and look forward to watching it again. I hope you all check it out too. Here is the link to my Disccussion with Gary Calderone from 2012.
Both of you are such beautiful women and powerful learning tools. The lesson I learned was to help soften my edges and to just be as is... let go!! Not an easy task and feel thankful to have resources such as Pilates Anytime to guide me thru my journey! Many blessings, appreciation and thanks to Christi and Kristi..
Oh wow. I cried more than once watching those two chapters. Thank you so much to both of you for opening up this dialogue and Kristi Cooper for opening yourself up to all of us. Listening to your descriptions of your experiences with exertion and the sense of regressing is very familiar. It was like listening to myself describe my TBI recovery. Baby steps are the way to go! I'm following the same path and now - 7 months later - the symptoms are fewer and the episodes are farther between. We will get there in good time if we allow ourselves what we need.
Thank you Kristi for your honesty and transparency. It Is refreshing and inspiring and I think many teachers can relate to this topic on a personal leve because we all all people too experiencing life and trauma while on a path to serving others !
