Thank you for the great tips. I plan to try with a couple of my clients with weight bearing issues on their wrists.

Used with my clients and what an immediate difference it makes. Thank you for another amazing tutorial!
Love love this!! Thank you!! So helpful!!
This is awesome! Thank you
Thank you Rebekah, I will definitely try this for myself and clients.
This was great! You mentioned having the pointer finger forward changes the relationship of the radius. Would love to know how it changes the relationship and what impact that has from a biomechanical point of view on weight bearing. loved the video, thanks :)
Curious to know more about grip/hand/wrist position for when your holding onto for example the footbar on the reformer, verses the pushthru bar verses roll down bar, handles, loops etc. especially for those with quervains tenosynovitis, and trigger finger. This is becoming more and more an issue with people using ipads and iphone devices using swiping motion. Should your hand be held with thumb wrapped around bar or on top etc.

Hi Jennifer N  — Natalia from the Pilates Anytime team here! I am also a certified Pilates instructor.

When holding onto the footbar, I recommend that students hold the bar with all five fingers facing the same direction, away from the body. The footbar itself is too wide to wrap the thumb around the bar, and wrapping also causes the shoulders to rotate in towards the chest.

As for thinner bars like the roll down bar, you can wrap the thumbs around the bar, but it will depend on the exercise and how much the student needs to control the bar itself.

As for the loops and handles, I recommend that the loop or handle goes across an open palm with the thumb tucked and extended underneath the loop or handle. Maintaining fully open hands will help encourage the student to elongate through the arms and fingertips.

We hope this additional information is helpful in deciding what grip could work best for your students! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
