Brilliant teachers find their way in to my life when I need them...Alycea Ungaro teaches Pilates brilliantly because she is highly intelligent. She could be a teacher of any subject but lucky for me she has chosen Pilates. I love her Saw, I have so much work to do on myself and I am so glad I found this class. Thank you so much.
Tabletop! I have always hated the position as it simply shuts off muscle activity, eliminates the work of gravity on the abdominals and works the limbs in a shortened position - all contrary to Pilates with its emphasis on full body movements. Amy Alpers once held a workshop where she referenced how Pilates himself rants about the effects of civilization on the body. Sitting in a chair all day is the exact impact he spoke of. Amy spoke of how the tabletop mimicked the position of a chair. Now I will ask you - who needs to practice sitting in a chair." So - there's my answer for you and I'm so glad you asked it. And yes, talk to Amy Alpers as well for lighting that fire in me!
Alycea! I think we might have been in that same workshop together (2010 pma?). Amy Taylor Alpers was also the first person to remind me of Joe's rant about sitting in chairs etc. I agree we do not need to practice sitting in chairs. Thanks Amy Taylor for enlightening. Thank you Alycea for always being a fierce rockstar:) Heart you and see you in a few weeks in Denver xx
