Hi Elena...first I want to say thank you for your comments about watching my classes. :) OK....here's what you can do....during the side lying sections either bend your knees a little and bring your legs in front of you somewhat, or put a pillow under that bottom hip, but really pull in your abdominals and pinch your bottom a little, that can help stabilize. In standing.....go near a wall and practice the movements! You'll make improvements and feel safe. I have two other classes that are 'wall workouts', give those a try also. Use a broomstick for balancing or the back of a chair. Even something as simple as standing on one leg will help, and you can use support! :) Let me know how things go, always interested in hearing from you!
Hi Amy, I am a singer and am currently working with a physical therapist for tightness in my jaw/neck/tongue. So glad I found this class since the physio asked me to give the head and neck lifts a miss for a few months. Thanks, also, for your clear and thoughtful instruction. :)
Christine! I want to thank you for taking the time to comment and mention to us what you're working on. We can all learn from each other's comments here. Keeping the head down is a wonderful opportunity (and really challenging for most) to assess how much work we're doing in our jaw/neck/throat etc. If we can ease up and keep the work lower in our trunk.....how divine. How's your singing, it it changing, improving, becoming more clear and resonant? I'd love to hear about your shifts too! ;)
Hi Amy - thanks for the reply! The changes I am facilitating with all of my body work and meditation practices to loosen the jaw, in particular are resulting (already!) in a clearer, bigger sound with a steady vibrato. I am undoing years and years of negative habits but intention and practice pay dividends. Look forward to discovering more of your classes. Cris
You're welcome. This is really interesting to read/hear how your Pilates practice is helping .... others may enjoy knowing too! I love that your vibrato has improved .... wonderful! Keep up with all the good work it sounds like you're doing, how exciting!
