Hi, why is there such a strong emphasis on flattening the lumbar curve? Specifically in the exercises comprising the first 12 minutes?
Thanks,
Mastaneh, I'll let Meredith speak for herself on this, but given our teaching/training is so similar in style I'll take my best guess at what she will tell you. In starting with the pelvic curl and the exercises that follow prior to the Foot and Leg Work are intended to warm us up, or more accurately, loosen us up. It is an attempt to create more suppleness to muscles around the spine not specifically to flatten the lumbar curve. Once we reach the foot and Leg work we are working with our natural curves of our spines and not intending to emphasize flattening. I hope that helps.
