Sarah . . . I appreciate your comment. My intention in this class format is to create safety for the pelvis in the anchoring of the sitz bones allowing the spine to move with support. Yes, for older clients and anybody who can benefit from pelvic/sacral stability. Thank YOU!
When I discovered the stool variation to the standing Pilates Classes that I teach it has become a weekly favorite. Sitting on the stool allows full range of motion in all directions while the pelvis remains stable. A great variation to integrate core into the legs and arms.
Some interesting variations for seated work, which I've often felt was too limited, so some new moves to incorporate here! I'm about to start a Pilates chair class at a retirement community and don't even know how much standing work some of the participants can do.
Ellen . . . I created the "stool" class to assist a student who was overcoming some hip issues where standing was not comfortable. She sat on the stool and took standing class with us. Then, I realized the benefit of sitting as an option and created this class for any body - the pelvis is stable and anchored through the legs to allow for much deeper spine articulation. Thank you for your comment! Let me know how this works for you in your teaching.
Thank you for including this class in your repertoire. I am rehabbing from knee surgery and it is exactly what I needed to keep my upper body moving while not placing weight on my leg. I wish there were more chair classes!
This is so wonderful! I have an elderly client who is limited and likes to work sitting on the edge of the reformer. It will be so much fun to add variety with her and change it up!
