Wauh! With respect for my own body and its capabilities, I am enormously challenged by this lesson. How do I ensure that I perform the exercises properly:) I use a lot of props (a little higher there, a little lower there etc.) The exercises where you fixate your hands with the shouldersupport and footbar felt extremely good, the sliding of the shoulderblades and for me also the opening of my pectoral muscles.
And downstretch on the shins instead of curling the toes under was a completely different experience and required different use of force for me. At the end of the workout I had to laugh at all the props around me, thank you for this class!
Thank You Sofie! The down stretch with the ankles in plantar flexion accentuates activation of extension of the torso and the hips. This emphasizes the 'Superficial Back Myofascial Continuity'.
Yes J A, movement that supports safe, neurologically-informed movement of the neck, head, eyes and vestibular system is valuable and rare to find in the Pilates environment. I teach a sequence in supine on the Trapeze Table with head supported by a sling. You will find this in the Pilates Anytime workshop I recorded with Tom Myers, Interoception in Pilates. In addition, page 230 of my book Fascia in Motion(Handspring 2017) shows this and other sequences in the chapter on screen devices. Warm wishes!
