I really enjoyed this class 💕. Amazing how you can move after the operation, super inspiring and I love your words at the end , thank you for an amazing class, super informative too.
Elizabeth D I had a hip replacement 8 months ago. so theroretically, hip replacement is NOT a factor for limiting function long term. BUT, It depends how recent was surgery? what type of surgery ? ( lateral, anterior, posterior) and what the medical restrictions are for this individual? ( depending on time). Regarding longer leg - that takes detailed cueing by the teacher to help the student balance out their legs and hips and figure out if it is " really " a difference in leg length or if it is adaptations in the body and nervous system the client has developed to function   ( we all have these) . Its is not possible for me to answer your question because I don't really know what is going on.  In theory, exercise is good, the body likes to be challenged and learn new things, and there are always modifyers within this philosophy...
This has been very inspiring.  I’ve been putting off a hip replacement because the surgery said I wouldn’t be able to maintain the  full range of motion I have now.  He said I’d run the risk of dislocating.Â
Kim L and Kim L Thank you both for your comments. Meg, enjoy enjoy - and Kim - there is more detail to unpack here, for you to navigate how you want to proceed. This is only this surgeons view ! and what type of procedure does he do? there are multiple types of full hip replacement now available , it depends on the surgeon. In my case I chose lateral as it is less vulnerable ( my own research) to instability. I also was very careful to NOT push my range of motion till I was through 4 months so I allowed my body to heal ( take a year ) and then I was and am incredibly observant of where I put tension and ask for my body to shift. I know a lot about my join alignment, fascia and muscle blocks so knew where to focus the pressure of a stretch so I did not put pressure on the prosthesis, and put it in a vulnerable angle.  Its complicated but totally possible to have your range of motion - you need to be educated in your unique approach. Would like a private? to explore? DM me here.Â
I'm so glad I found this class and am so inspired that you are doing this class so easily after your hip replacement surgery. Mine is scheduled for September in a few weeks, and I am doing as much possible before to be in the best health for the surgery. I know pain is coming from the joint, but it feels like a lot of my pain is muscle so it almost always feel better to do stretch and mobility in addition to strength (although there are some positions where my hip says 'no!' I listen.
