A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Alexandra moved to New York at the age of 19 to study and pursue a career in dance. While working as a personal trainer and teaching dance classes, she desired to improve her ballet skills and was introduced to the authentic classical method of Pilates. After her first lesson, she devoted her life to the mastery of the Method. She studied at the legendary Drago's New York Pilates studio, where she trained under and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska, who was Joseph Pilates' protégé, and Edwina Fontaine. Alexandra has also studied with Romana’s daughter Sari Mejia Santo, Jerome Weinberg, Cynthia Shipley, Bob Liekens and completed a number of workshops with Jay Grimes. After graduating under Romana in NYC, where she also trained clients, she moved to California where she spent a few years at Pilates Works with Tiziana Trovati and then with the famous Mari Winsor in Beverly Hills. She eventually opened her own studio, True Pilates Manhattan Beach located in Los Angeles while continuing to perform ballet at the prestigious Colburn School of Dance and Music. Her clients include celebrity artists, actors, elite athletes, and real people wanting to improve their body through Pilates.

Alexandra studied Sports Science at Durham University in the United Kingdom where she had True Pilates Durham. While at Durham she taught Pilates to the Durham University Ballet Company with whom she also performed. Alexandra earned her Masters in Osteopathy at UCO in London (The former British School of Osteopathy) to deepen her knowledge of the body and to better serve her clients. She now owns Alexandra Bohlinger Pilates and Osteopathy, a fully equipped studio and she travels internationally teaching workshops and conferences to help Pilates teachers deepen their knowledge of the Method in their own bodies and their teaching.

Alexandra is also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a certified Personal Trainer. She credits authentic classical Pilates with helping her ballet technique improve as well as helping her get back into great shape after three successful pregnancies and now keeping up with her three children.
