Kathie M: Thanks so much, wow, a million dollars! New crisp bills all stacked neatly! It's really like magic, isn't it, when you can feel your spine drop like that. The rollers were originally designed by a Feldenkrais person for his scoliotic clients; just lying on it one's spine starts to gravitate towards a center line.... so simple, but so brilliant!
Ruth, this was heaven-sent!!! Thank you SO much... I've been having problems with my engagement to pilates at home as of lately, and this has completely put me back in the mindset for Pilates again!!!! I love how you center on kindness to your own body and reclaiming those pauses that our lifestyles deny us nowadays... Will come back for more. Thank you very, very much.
Hi Zombina, thank YOU for your comments! I'm so glad you "got it". And I do have more, some tutorials and a workshop, and a mat class. And we just filmed last Friday, a "restorative" cadillac follow-along workout, and a tutorial. Those should be up for viewing in a few months.
Holy Cow Ruth! My body was in a funk, that's the only way I know how to describe it. This class (and you) are a Godsend! Thank you so much! I'll be repeating this class. Im so glad I met you in Las Vegas! Take care!
Ruth I have a question about something you said at your workshop in Las Vegas/Henderson this spring. denee.dow@gmail.com. can you send me your contact info?
Thank you for this delicious class! I do it for myself after a day of teaching and any tension being held just melts away. I've also shared portions of it with my students and they like it too! Hey concerning the tight adductors I remember reading in one of Katy Bowman books or in her blog that it's linked to a chronically tucked pelvis. Too much sitting! Any thoughts?
Hi Julia, Thank you so much for your feedback! Yes, tight adductors can be from a tucked pelvis - and pelvis tucking is a common pattern, especially nowadays with people slouching with laptops on their laps and cell phones. Tight adductors can also be from many other things as well. Sexual abuse (whether conscious or unconscious) and other held fear patterns; they go hand in hand with tight hamstrings, too. You could even say sitting in chairs: if we squatted on our haunches on the ground, sat cross-legged, etc. we would have more pliable adductors (see Philip Beach's workshop on Pilates Anytime, his Archetypal Postures).
Ruth thank you for your response. Yes hamstrings too are tight with a tucked pelvis! I hadn't considered the emotional component but yes that makes total sense. Thank you also for recommending Philip Beach's workshop. My AC is out in my studio (the temps in Tucson have been around 110!) so I'm going to check it out now. Looking forward to more of your classes!
