Thanks for the suggestion of substituting plank or push ups. I tried using a heavy ottoman to hold my legs while leaning forward. My strap subsitutes for the roll overs were the corners of my mat. That worked pretty well. The cue to "keep reaching" during thread-the-needle was a game changer. I guess I'd been one of those who aborted the plan. early. ;) Who would have thought that "smush" would be such an effective cue? LOL For the spanish speakers here try substituting "aplastar".
