Amy holds a B.A. in Dance from Colorado State University. She was introduced to the Pilates method by her modern dance teachers through whom she met Gary Calderone and Jeff Woodman, both graduates of The Pilates Center of Boulder, Colorado.
Read More Immediately becoming fascinated with the beauty, grace, strength, and logic of this method, she knew becoming a Pilates teacher was in her future. She recognized this was a mental and physical practice as well as a lifelong discipline.

Amy moved to the San Francisco bay area to pursue a performing career and like many dancers, sustained an injury. Pilates and chiropractors were her means of rehabilitation and it was the transition out of the dance world that enabled Amy to follow her intuition to deepen her relationship with the Pilates method. She completed her comprehensive teacher training program through The PhysicalMind Institute® taught by Madeline Black and Jean Sullivan and as an apprentice, was asked to teach at A Body of Work in San Francisco.

Amy is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher (CPT). She is faculty and teacher trainer for Pilates for Buff Bones™ (Rebekah Rotstein, founder). Amy holds additional certifications in pre/post natal training through CORE Conditioning and is a Core Align Level 1 trained instructor. She has completed BASI’s® rigorous Mentor and Master Program’s with Rael Isacowitz and is a proud graduate of Pat Guyton’s Pilates Conservatory Teacher Training Program®. Amy has twice completed Gil Hedley’s 6-Day Intensive Hands-On Human Dissection Workshops, has been a member of IDEA since 2001, and is a founding teacher for Pilates Anytime as well as content director and instructor host. She has taught for Balanced Body’s Pilates On Tour Fall 2013, the Pilates In Asia Conference 2014 and 2015, and for White Cloud Studios with Troy McCarty in Cleveland, Ohio in 2015. Amy has over 20 years of teaching experience and has an unending curiosity for learning that continues to enrich and enliven her teaching approach.

Amy is the owner of CenterPoint Pilates Inc, a premier studio in Santa Barbara, California. It was awarded "Best Pilates Studio" in 2011 and 2012 in the Santa Barbara Independent’s Readers Poll. CenterPoint has 10 teachers on its staff and all are PMA Certified. Amy believes in individuality and honors the diverse teaching styles of her staff. CenterPoint Pilates has hosted guest teachers including Rebekah Rotstein, Jennifer Kries, Diane Severino, Kevin Bowen, and Pat Guyton. It is considered "the place to study Pilates" in Santa Barbara.

Amy is a patient and compassionate teacher, remembering that “Rome wasn’t built in a day." Based on her rich movement background, her style is eclectic and purposeful. She teaches with enthusiasm, clarity, joy, and a well-trained eye. She finds inspiration in teaching to all levels, but it’s working with beginning level students that best keeps her in the present moment, staying clear with the intention of the method: whole body health, whole body commitment, and breath. She shares that Pilates is a way of life, that the studio is only one place to practice this method. Amy is a mentor and coaches student teachers and values the apprenticeship model. She will be a forever student, knowing that greatest teachers are often the most curious of students. Amy lives in Santa Barbara with her dog Maddie, and her two cats Dexter and Frankie. She loves to cook, hike, and travel, and when not in the studio, she is at home listening to music, dancing, and endeavoring to find the balance of work, rest, play, and joy.
